The Entrepreneurial Manager.

The main goal of this course is to introduce the best practices for assessing and exploiting entrepreneurial opportunities in multiple contexts.

The first part of the course focuses on the new venture creation process and the way to analyze every dimension of a new entrepreneurial project:

  1. The entrepreneur : entrepreneurial motivations, skills and profiles…
  2. The opportunity: criteria for assessment, market research, environment analysis, types of innovation…
  3. The resources: introduction to entrepreneurial finances and SMEs financing techniques such as bootstrapping, venture capital, specific bank financing schemes…
  4. The Environment: the entrepreneurial ecosystem in different countries
  5. The business plan
  6. Effectuation

The second part moves from pure ‘new venture creation’ (a restricted understanding of what entrepreneurship is!) to ‘entrepreneurial management’. The course here focuses on:

  1. Why the entrepreneurial mindset is important in every kind of organization (even large ones) and the differences between ‘entrepreneurial’ and ‘managerial’ behavior.  Concepts such as MBO (Management Buy-Out) and corporate entrepreneurship are introduced.
  2. How large firms can become more entrepreneurial.
